Hi ladies!
Most of us thought we would outgrow pimples by the time we reach adulthood, #amirite?
But unfortunately, pimples still happen later in life as well. Actually, over 50 million adults in the world still suffer from breakouts. And in order to prevent them, we first need to find the root cause behind how they’re formed. #PreventionIsKey.
Essentially, pimples occur when sebum or dead skin cells clog our pores. Sometimes the dead skin cells are not shed, which can cause infection and inflammation. When this happens, bacteria flourishes inside the pores, causing unwanted pimples and acne. We’ve all been there!
There are several types of pimples including whiteheads, blackheads, papules and pustules.
Whiteheads are pimples that don’t have inflammation – just a white tip cover the small clogged pore.
Blackheads are similar, but with a black tip over the clogged pore. It’s still sebum and not actually dirt stuck in yours pores like many believe.
Lastly, we have papules and pustules. These pimples are red, inflamed and can be quite sore. They tend to be a little harder to get rid of.
Some of us experience pimples more than others for hormonal reasons, genetics or dietary factors. Dairy and gluten are common inflammatory foods that can worsen pimples and acne. Try to lessen your consumption of these foods and see how it helps your skin. Many people see a huge reduction in pimples by supplementing with probiotics and or eating foods that are high in these great probiotic cultures.
Not washing off our makeup off at night is another contributing factor... Of course, we’re all guilty of this at one point or another! Be sure to sleep with a clean pillowcase regularly – bacteria can flourish here as well.
Of course, we can’t change things like genetics, but there are certain factors we can change. One of those factors is a quality skin care regimen. It’s so important to nourish our skin from both the inside and the outside. Especially if you are in a hot, humid environment – our Bulgarian Rose Cleansing Balm is the perfect addition to your daily routine. It removes makeup and impurities from the pores, while locking in moisture at the same time.
