The Top Skincare Ingredients to Combat a Hot and Humid Climate

A little moisture is great for the skin, but when the humidity is over 85% – it is NOT our friend. Living in the hot climate that we do, we know that the weather can wreak havoc on our skin. The good news is, there are some skincare ingredients that actually help combat the humidity! (No – the answer is not applying
more powder!)

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse! Incorporating cleansers with salicylic acid to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores is one of the best things you can do in a humid climate. Cleansing with salicylic acid morning and night will help reduce oil production and breakouts overall.

Applying toner after you cleanse is a must. Our Bulgarian Rose toner removes dirt, impurities and dead skin cells, while giving the skin a healthy glow. Just apply a little to your face using a cotton pad and you’re good to go!

Jojoba oil - we know, this one seems a little counterintuitive. Let us explain! Jojoba oil actually resembles the sebum that our skin naturally makes, therefore tricking the skin into producing less oil. It penetrates deep into the skin, clearing blocked pores and removing built-up bacteria. Apply it with your fingertips to
freshly cleansed skin during your nightly skincare routine.

We’re also loving skincare products that contain activated charcoal. This ingredient really helps break down excessive oil and draw out impurities from the skin. Did you know activated charcoal is used to treat poisoning in hospitals by drawing out toxins from the body? So, you can imagine the benefits it has
topically on your skin. The great thing about it is it doesn’t strip your skin’s natural moisture away with it. Look for cleansers or sheet masks with charcoal and use it a few times a week.

Even in humid weather, don’t forget to moisturize! Sweat contains water and salt, so it actually dehydrates the skin as it evaporates. Just opt for a lightweight oil-free moisturizer on those hot days.

We hope these tips help you in your fight against humidity. Try them out and let us know how they work for you!
